Fairy-tale Weddings on Murano

Getting married in Italy is a wish many couples cherish.  Venice is considered to be one of the best wedding destinations in Italy. The lovely island of Murano is a charming and authentic part of Venice, known for the Art of Glass Blowing. As a location for your wedding ceremony or party it is a wonderful alternative to the busy and overly expensive City of Venice. The Glass Cathedral - or ex Chiesa di Santa Chiara Murano - can host from 10 to more than 200 guests. The setting, with its elegant arches, brick walls and high ceilings, is  spectacular. The enormous Venetian Glass chandeliers give the rooms grandeur. The sparkling glass is highlighted by the sun beams that shine through the colored windows. In the evening a completely different atmospheres can be created with professional lightning. 
Since the venue consists of several larger and smaller salons, a bar and the area around the glass blowing furnace, the options are endless. You can for example choose for a formal wedding ceremony, an intimate dinner with family and close friends, a party with dj or live music or even a ball in traditional Venetian costumes. The beautiful Palazzo da Mula, the Murano Town Hall, is the location for civil weddings. This Byzantine  building stems from the 12th century. It overlooks Murano's Gran Canal.

You can marry religiously in Venice or Murano, but local curies are usually very demanding about your preparations and ask a lot of paperwork. For that reason many couples choose a religious blessing.
It  is only a short boat ride from Venice to Murano, one mile north of the city.  So you can combine a stay in Venice with a wedding on Murano. Recreate the magical atmosphere of the rich Venetian Republic. The beautiful costumes of the   Venetian 18th century noblemen make you look like a Prince or Princess. If you like to rent, try to avoid the Carnival period, since the Ateliers will need their best costumes then. 

A wedding in an elegant Venetian style

Venetian glassware or Murano glass goblets on the table and glass sign place ornaments are a logical choice if you get married on Murano. But have you considered one glass flower instead of a bridal bouquet? Or matching sets of hand-made buttons, a Murano glass necklace or pendant, earrings and cufflinks? The options are endless.
During your wedding party the most famous of all Venetian cocktails the Bellini, cannot be missed. The cocktail was introduced at the famous Harry's Bar in Venice in 1948. The recipe tells us to use 2 to 3 ripe white peaches on a bottle of Prosecco. A very glamorous option is to drink Prosecco Gold with real gold leaf.
